I’m just like the rest of you.

I’ve got a regular head and matching eyeballs but admittedly my feet are odd – one size 36 and the other a kids’ 9. I don’t like cooking but I do like organising my spice rack just so – sometimes alphabetically, sometimes according to the quantity of the remaining spice; depends on my mood really. Children I’m a bit suspicious of, but I get a real kick out of daft 80s German serials like Inspektor Rex.

As for travel, well: I’m as addicted as the Germans are to all things wurst and CNN is to recycling – its stories, that is. I also used to be hung up on analogies that come in threes, but I’ve since cut back.

One day, I imagine, like all good addictions, it will polish me right off. My septum will disintegrate and I’ll start peeling back my skin layer by layer to get at the worms. I’ll be paid enough visits by the pirates and the green Venusian men that pretty soon even they’ll start telling me to hang up my boots.

But until then, I’ll continue my Europe-wide quest for cheesecake. To combine my twin passions, you know.
